Mr Anthony Rowlands Weekly Update 15.01.2016

15 January 2016

Another new term started at BIS Hanoi with excitement and anticipation. Students returned eager to begin learning and return to familiar routines. Eighteen new students joined us from various parts of the world and I am thrilled with how well they have settled into school life at BIS Hanoi – a testament to the caring environment that exists at the school. In the near future, our IGCSE and A Level students will be sitting their mock examinations. These are important tests for them as it will familiarise them with the expectations of the real examinations later in the year. However, these mock assessments are also a time to practise, learn, make mistakes and reflect on what they have learnt and, indeed, need to learn. All these things will help them prepare fully for the actual IGCSE and A Level examinations in May and June.

Next week I will be in the UK as we begin recruiting teachers for next year. We have had a large amount of applications for the positions that we will have available and we have identified a number of quality teachers to interview. Some of our current teachers will be leaving us at the end of the year and, as ever, we will be sad to see them depart but understand their genuine reasons for doing so.

Saturday 30th January

(10.00am to 1.00pm) we will be holding our ‘

Winter Carnival

’. It will be a hugely enjoyable event and I am hopeful that a large number of parents and students will join us on this day.

I do hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

Mr Anthony Rowlands, Principal
