What an amazing turnout for our Phase 2 Exhibition yesterday. Parents were welcomed by Mr Wild, in the Parent Meeting Room, and given an outline of why accurate spoken English is so important to us at British International School. Children are benefitting from our programme of Talk for Writing as mentioned in last week’s blog entry and we are seeing an improvement in the structure of written work and the choice of vocabulary used. In addition to this, we are providing as many opportunities for children to improve their confidence by speaking to difference audiences which is one of the reasons for holding our exhibition.
Parents were then invited to visit corridor displays, attend short performances in our theatre and be guided around classrooms in Year 2, 3 and 4 to share learning from this term. The children were very well informed and could explain different aspects of learning in science, topic, maths and English. Well done, Phase 2 – you were excellent, confident guides!
This week’s performance in the EYC certainly left us feeling festive! The children, some as young as 2 years of age, were so brave as they stood proudly in front of parents and sang some of our favourite Christmas songs. Children in different year groups also provided narration between songs – well done, you spoke so loudly and clearly! I’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff who have worked hard to make the event so successful; the stage and costumes were lovely and the singing delightful.
I would like to wish our families all the very best for the festive holidays and look forward to welcoming you back in 2017.
