Mr Christopher Short Weekly Update 04.03.2016

04 March 2016

We were very excited this week to learn that a group of Year 8 students had won the global Nord Anglia Education Be Ambitious competition. Out of hundreds of entries their video was chosen as the best one to demonstrate the importance of Being Ambitious. Congratulations to Duc Tuan, Hoang Minh, Hoang Giang and Tuan Long for winning this prize.

As you read this week’s HUB I will be in Hong Kong watching our teams compete in the Global Games Asia football event. Mrs Airdrie has led a team of 4 staff and 28 students to represent us in this inaugural event competing against schools in China and Hong Kong. On Saturday Mr Rowlands and I attend a workshop with the Council of International Schools as part of our ongoing accreditation process.

BIS Secondary

I visited UNIS yesterday to see our students participating in the MUN there. Eleven students represented Chad and Canada in a number of discussions on various World issues. In one chamber there was heated discussion on how to control global arms sales. The MUN is an excellent opportunity for students to practice their speaking, listening and persuading skills.
