Ms Sue Hill Weekly Update 4.3.2016

04 March 2016

Dear Parents,

BIS Hanoi is a Nord Anglia Education School which brings many benefits for our students. One benefit is having access to the Nord Anglia Learning Community which can be accessed by students and teachers from 42 schools across the world including North America, The Middle East, Europe and Asia. Mr. Holmes, a Year 3 teacher, is our Nord Anglia Global Campus liaison person and when he spotted a competition he made sure to inform teachers of the exciting details. The title of the competition, ‘Be Ambitious’, was open to interpretation and students were invited to submit entries in small groups showing what that meant to them.
BIS students did us proud and a team of secondary pupils (Duc Tuan, Hoang Minh, Hoang Giang and Tuan Long) took first place. In addition to this, it was very exciting to hear that two of our primary entries also received prizes! Congratulations to:

-    Amelia Dodds, Chloe Seo, Jaimie Kang and Jun Beom for winning the ‘Best Interpretation of the Brief Award’ with their recipe for being ambitious.

-    Magnus McKie, Tae Hwan Kim and Lachlan Lao for winning the ‘Most Innovative Award’ for their video describing personal ambitions of becoming the next president and an international rugby player.

Parent and Teacher Working Together

I would like to thank all of the parents who met with Mr Rowlands, Ms. Dessy, Ms. Jinny and me on Thursday morning to discuss a way forward for a Parent Teacher Group. Many ideas were considered including exploring ways that parents can work with the school to offer social events, family events and the possibility of a coffee shop for parents on our BIS campus. If you have any ideas about how we can move forward, or if you are interested in joining the next gathering of parents and teachers then please contact Ms. Dessy, Ms. Jinny or Ms. Hung.
