Primary Student Leadership
House Captains and Vice-Captains
Ms. Hill and I had the pleasure of interviewing 16 Year 6 students for the roles of House Captain and Vice-Captains this week and what a pleasure it was. All the students involved were well prepared, talked about our school life with maturity. Their understanding of our Aide-Memoir was impressive using words such as enquiry and respect as they spoke. It was a very proud moment for me as I arrive at the end of my first half-term and reflect on the last few months. These young leaders, who are confident and capable, who understand what being global citizen means and how they can be a role model are very impressive. They should all feel very proud of their achievements.
I am delighted to announce the House and Vice-Captains for:
Saigon – Hang Nga and Ayumi
Hue – Linh Lan and Seo Young
Dalat – Nam Anh and Gia Bao
Hanoi – Thuy Lam and Jeong Chan
Developing Student Leaders
At BIS Hanoi, we believe in giving students the opportunity to develop as leaders. In addition to House Captains we have Primary Student Council and today in our Phase 2/3 assembly, Mr. Holmes and Mr. Wild also introduced some new opportunities for other children to take on roles of responsibility. This is really important as it encourages and gives children the change to think about the broader aspects of school life and how we all have part to play. It gives children to chance to see how they can make a small, yet significant different in our school and get the opportunity to be a young leader. Positions that are available after half-term are: Library Monitor, Waste Warriors and Playground Buddies. Please take some time to reflect on these roles with your children over the holidays and they can let their class teachers know if they would like an opportunity to take on these roles.
It has been a fantastic half-term and wonderful seeing the children settle into the new school year and get stuck into their learning. As we look forward to next half term; International Week is one of the highlights and then moving towards Winter events, it will be jam-packed with more learning opportunities for our children.
Wishing you all a relaxing half-term break and safe travels if you are leaving Hanoi for the holidays. I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 30th October.
