Dear Parents,

The penultimate week of Term 1, and the festive season is almost upon us. On arrival in the foyer, you will now find a large Christmas tree which may prompt exciting thoughts of Santa and hopes of what he may bring you. However, Christmas is a time for giving as well as receiving and this year, Tutor Group 7I have decided to organise a collection of toiletries for Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. Prompted by two visitors from the Foundation, who shared their experience of what living on the streets of Hanoi feels like, our students were keen to take action. The display board in the foyer contains collection baskets so we encourage everyone to help them by bringing in donations of tooth paste, tooth brushes, shampoo, soap etc. These will be donated to Blue Dragon in time for Tet.

Our festive concert held on Wednesday evening was a huge success. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to strategy meetings at the Regional Nord Anglia Office in Ho Chi Minh, however I was able to see many of the impressive rehearsals. Performances from members of our community from Year 1 to our staff and parents made the concert the most inclusive yet, show casing dance, music and drama. I would like to thank our Performing Arts Department and our peripatetic music teachers for their tremendous effort. Once again, the talent of our BIS community has been shown to be outstanding.

If you’re still not feeling festive then don’t worry, the celebrations continue next week! I would like to welcome all parents to the following fabulous festive events:

  • Our youngest members of BIS, from F1 to Year 1, are performing on Tuesday (F1 and F2 at 9am; F3 at 2pm) and Wednesday (Year 1 at 2pm) over at the Early Years Centre.
  • Our Secondary Production of Elf will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evening at 6pm.

I hope to see many of you next week.
