During the International Festival, our Secondary Korean parent group ran a Korean food stall, raising a fabulous amount of VND23,357,000. Added to funds raised from ticket sales at our Primary productions a grand total of VND34,000,000 has been donated to Hy Vong, to build a stage and curtains for their new Multipurpose Hall.
It was wonderful to see the excitement, huge smiles and the warm welcome from the children at Hy Vong when we arrived. Performing on the new stage, we were entertained by the students who are hearing impaired with a song of sign language, this was followed by an enthusiastic dance by the younger children.
Our students then took the lead to organise fun games and activities for everyone to play together whilst the parents were given a tour of the school.
The following day Mr Adams the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation education officer visited BIS and our Global Studies class, who have been focusing on the Global Goal ‘Quality Education’.
Our students talked about the many fundraising initiatives that they have been doing and presented Mr Adams with a certificate and VND10,000,000 that will be used to purchase bespoke bicycles that will help two disabled children supported by Blue Dragon to attend school. He also met with 2 other groups of BIS students who are currently volunteering at Blue Dragon with basketball and football coaching sessions.
Our BIS students have many other community service projects on the go and continue to show what fabulous ambassadors they are for our school.
