Salla Saarikangas from Juilliard joined us on Thursday and Friday this week to explore the Juilliard dance resources and see how dance is working in our school.

Salla taught a Year 5 & a Year 6 class and was very impressed with how the students worked in the lessons. Students in Year 5 learned to interpret dance notation and students in Year 6 explored creating dances through chance operations. Salla then worked with the Performing Arts staff in professional development workshops. She visited our school earlier this year in September and was delighted to see the changes that have been made since then with the new dance studio.

Dance is thriving at BIS Hanoi and we are really pleased to have been chosen as one of the mentored schools in the Juilliard Choreography Challenge this year. Our ECA Dance Company will be working on this for the next two terms.

Salla will be touring South East Asia visiting our Nord Anglia schools in Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Yangon before returning to New York in February.
