The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a rich, rigorous and rewarding programme which our students embark on at the start of Year 12. It has been designed to prepare learners for the multi-disciplinary workplaces of the future.

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) ensures that students maintain a breadth and depth of learning across six subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, the Sciences, Mathematics, the Arts. To enhance their understanding of the group subjects, students engage in critical thinking in their Theory of Knowledge lessons and complete an essay on a subject of their choice for the Extended Essay.

As well as the academic focus, the DP aims to develop the whole person to equip them with adaptable skills to face the global demands of the twenty first century. The Learner Profile encapsulates ten personal attributes to help guide IB students into becoming inquiring, principled and caring young adults. Engagement with the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme also encourages students to take risks, broaden their skill range and help the local community. The combination of a broad academic knowledgebase and toolkit to approach learning makes BIS Hanoi graduates very appealing to higher education institutions.

As we approach the first half term, it is important to pause and reflect on the journeys ahead for our IB students. Recently, Year 11 have been introduced to the IB DP and they are now beginning to think about their IB options for next year. Year 12 are fully immersed in deep meaningful learning, seeking new knowledge and honing key skills in their new courses. Year 13 are studying hard as they enter their PCT week of exams and draft their personal statements for university applications. We wish all our students the very best as they navigate their way through the enriching and challenging IB Diploma Programme.
