Jay Graham hails from Liverpool, in the United Kingdom but also calls Brighton and Hove his home. He is an avid Liverpool fan and is very proud of his roots. Having moved into teaching from a career in banking in the late 1990s, he found much greater joy in improving life opportunities for young people rather than ramping up profit at his bank. As a keen linguist with a number of European languages, Jay took to inspiring learners of French, Spanish and German whilst developing pastoral experience at the 'coal-face' that would help define his leadership. Having worked in the United Kingdom for 15 years moving through pastoral and academic middle leader and senior leadership posts, Jay took up a senior post at Brighton College, Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates where, over the last four years, he has helped steer the school through two 'outstanding' government inspections and has learned Arabic. Jay has NPQH.
Jay is married to Emma and is proud of his two children, William and Isabella, who embrace the international childhood he would have loved. Jay still takes a keen interest in economics and finance and plays guitar and piano when the mood takes him. He tries to get fit more than keep fit but a constant work-in-progress is never a bad thing. He enjoys making food and is keen to learn how to make local delicacies. He is also thrilled at the prospect of learning Vietnamese and the travelling opportunities the country and region offer.
