Welcome back to all our children and families after the half term break and a special welcome to the new families joining us. We hope you have all settled into the learning for the term ahead. It was an extremely exciting week in which to return or start as we got to celebrate with our Hallowe’en disco.

On Monday evening, all of the teaching assistants stayed late to prepare the Dining Hall so it was as spooky as possible for the disco to be held in there on Tuesday, 31st October. The decorations looked amazing and the scene was set. At 3.30pm almost all of Key Stage 1 and Year 3 entered the hall, all dressed in their Hallowe’en costumes, and danced and partied fantastically. Some had their faces painted, nails done, hair sprayed and spiked, bracelets and chains made and others just danced for the entire time. The same again happened when Years 4 to 6 took their turn to celebrate. Prizes for best costumes and dancers were won; parents joined their children dancing and it was a truly wonderful occasion. It is times like this that you see what a wonderful community we have, such a great team of staff we are dedicated to your children, and what a brilliant group of children we have, who just enthusiastically join in together. A great, if you will pardon the play on words, ‘spirit’ exists in the school! Thank you to everyone from the cleaners and guards, the IT department, marketing and teaching staff who make these events so wonderful. Our EYFS disco is not until after the writing of this article but I have seen the decorations in the auditorium and I know they will have an equally tremendous time.

At the end of last term, Mr Brookfield organised a swimming gala for all children in Year 1 to 3 who had been learning swimming that term. It was a very close-matched event with many children ‘Being Ambitious’ and diving for the first time or just joining in and helping their team out. Thank you to all the PE staff and our teachers and TAs who made this event a success, and congratulations to Saigon – this year’s champions! Their trophy will be in the cabinet with blue ribbons very shortly.  Do look out for it.

I wish you a great weekend.
