EYFS Weekly Updates 19/10/2018 from Ms. Julie Walton

What a fantastic week the Early Years have had. As I walked around, every classroom was preparing and making decorations for our Halloween disco.

The disco was on Thursday afternoon and was a great success. All the children had a dance and there were opportunities to make bracelets, have washable tattoos, paint their nails, make masks, apply face paint and play some games, such as ‘throw the hoop on the witches’ hat and ghost bowling. A huge thank you to all the parents for preparing outfits for the children to wear and for attending and supporting this event.

Another highlight of our week was the visit from our local fire fighters. They brought a fire engine as part of the F3 topic this term. The F3 children learnt about the job of a firefighter and got to see all the different tools and pieces of equipment that they have to use. All of the F3 children got to sit inside the fire engine and were able to ask lots of questions. They all took turns at spraying the hose and the water went very far across the splash pool. When the wind changed slightly it sprayed us all and caused the children much enjoyment. The F1 and F2 children were also allowed to visit the firefighters spending time exploring the fire engine.

The F1 children ended the week with a really engaging activity linked to their routines. They all brought pyjamas into school and toothbrushes and pretended it was the morning. They talked about what they do at home in the evening before going to bed and what they do when they wake up in the morning. They loved showing off their pyjamas to their friends and it encouraged lots of great language and talk.

We hope you all have a lovely half term holiday and look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 29th October.
