Primary Weekly Update 09/11/2018 from Dr Nici Wood

We were pleased to receive positive feedback about our second Maths workshop that was held on Monday morning this week.  It was a great opportunity for us to share the methodologies and terminologies that we currently use in school, to teach your children about Shapes and Coordinates.  Mrs Phuong has shared the information covered during her training session on ClassDojo for your reference.

Keeping on the topic of Maths, please see this account from Mrs Phuong about a recent Maths challenge that our students were involved in:

“Over the last 4 weeks, BVIS students from Primary and Secondary took part in the FOBISIA Online Maths Challenge. Forty-five international schools from across Asia were involved in this event with over 10,000 attempts completed. Out of all of these entries, only 163 students in Asia completed every stage of the challenge, thereby winning a Platinum Certificate. We are pleased to share that 4 of our Primary students: Le MinhViet 6S, Pham Hoang Le An 6S, Vu Hung Anh 6V, Seo Yuna 6B, won Silver Certificates. Additionally, one of our talented students demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills, along with resilience, to achieve a Platinum Certificate. Huge congratulations to Minh Phuong Bao Trang 6V and well done to all of the students who took part in this exciting event.”

On Sunday, we will be supporting the British Festival through two events: our staff band will be performing on the Main Stage at 10am and we shall be reading a story written in both English and Vietnamese in the Knowledge Corner at 11am.  We would love your support if you are able to attend.

On a final note, next week we celebrate International Week in school.  Here is a message from Mrs. Nguyen:

“Next week, BVIS Hanoi will be celebrating ‘International Week’, a week full of exciting activities to enable our children to learn about our wonderful world. The children will take part in special activities to raise their awareness of global culture, art, music, dance, language, food, history, geography and so much more! Each form class will have their own country to study, and on Friday, 16th November we would like the children from each class to wear clothes relating to their country. Please help your children to prepare themselves for our exciting event.”

I wish you all a restful weekend!
