Last week, the Early Years took part in their sports’ day with a wonderful variety of games, including obstacle courses and races with the jumping sacks and balloons. A lot of parents attended and it was great to see the parents joining in alongside their children. The excitement shown by the children was fantastic and the finale where everyone joined in for a tug of war was a great end to the day.

The famous basketball player, Michael Jordan, says “Just play, have fun and enjoy the game.” This really resonates in my mind when I think of these special days in early years. The children really loved this day and we will continue to encourage them in sport as they mature and gain even more confidence in their physical abilities.

Sports and physical activity is essential for young children and supports not only their physical development and well-being but also their emotional development too. Our Early Years’ sports day is designed not only to be exciting and fun, but challenging and rewarding as well. We want all our youngest children in our school to engage in sport and an active lifestyle.

As we go through the next few weeks, the teachers will start to finish their IEYC units of work and will start to prepare for the Early Years International week. This will start on the 1st April and will lead up to a special performance for all the parents on Wednesday 10th April, so please look out for the letters with more information about this.
