Primary Weekly Update (23/09 - 27/09)

Student Leadership

Our newly formed School Council met for the first time this week.  One child from each class in Year Two to Year Six was selected to represent their peers after applying to their Form Teacher.  (Year One pupils will have circle time where they discuss any school issues).

Ms. Sasha Crawley led the School Councillors and explained their new role before the children started their discussion.  The topics in this meeting were: the temperature of the swimming pool, school lunches, and assembly certificates.  Next week the Student Council members will discuss these issues with their classmates and then feedback collectively.  Once a decision has been made and an action agreed with Dr. Wood, we will feedback to parents.

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)

For the last two weeks, on a Monday and Thursday, the corridors have been buzzing with excitement as children eagerly went to their Term 1 ECAs.  Our students are taking part in a wide variety of activities including learning magic, reading activities, playing music, cup stacking, cooking, yoga, and many other sporting activities!  It is wonderful to see the children’s smiling faces as they learn new skills and get to make new friends with students from other classes.

Peace Day

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

These are the famous lyrics written by John Lennon in 1971, and almost 50 years later they still resonate with people all over the world.    To celebrate World Peace Day, the Primary students joined with Secondary to sing this beautiful song.  It was incredibly moving!  For our students this song reflects the values that we teach – respect and caring.
