Primary Weekly Update (31/08 - 04/09) In school, students have continued to enjoy their new topics and parents had the opportunity to learn about these at our Meet the Teacher evenings on Monday and Tuesday.

This last week has been a special time in Vietnam, with the celebration of Independence Day on Wednesday, giving our students the opportunity to celebrate this wonderful country's proud history with their families. In school, students have continued to enjoy their new topics and parents had the opportunity to learn about these at our Meet the Teacher evenings on Monday and Tuesday. For those parents that attended, it was a chance to meet their child's Class Teachers face to face and see an overview about the educational journey that our students will take this academic year. Our students are 'digital natives'; growing up without ever having known life before digital technology. In today's world, especially in the current climate, mastering technology is an essential part of education and our teachers explained the benefits of our students using Class Dojo and Teams for a meaningful purpose, where they learn to use technology to create, instead of simply consuming entertainment. Our current Dojo mascot is 'Cooper Co-operation' so teamwork and a positive attitude have been our focus. This week we have also started our 'Star of the Week' awards, so please check to see if your child was chosen.

Tomorrow's Leaders

We take our responsibility to mold future leaders very seriously at BVIS and this week, we began our annual leadership program with an assembly that outlined the qualities and characteristics of leaders. Our personal goals, represented by our nine Dojo Monsters, play a large part in articulating these leadership skills to the children. By identifying what skills these monsters represent and focusing on each monster over the course of the year, everyone is developing their leadership skills. We do however, recognise that some students are ready to take on some additional responsibilities right now. So, our Friday Assembly highlighted the leadership positions available and the processes for application. Soon we shall have our Student Councilors, our Eco Warriors, our Sport Leaders, our House Captains and Student Ambassadors all in post, ready to begin a great year of personal growth and school development. Our Assembly presentation is attached so that you can share it with your child over the weekend.
