Our internationally recognised curriculum combined with our highly personalised approach to teaching, gives our youngest students the perfect foundation to unlock their learning potential every step of the way. It is focused in bilingual language development; enhancing Vietnamese and providing high quality early exposure to English.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. It fully prepares children for the rigours of primary education with particular focus on bilingual development at the ideal age for language acquisition. At BVIS Hanoi, we provide Pre-Nursery (F1), Nursery (F2) and Reception (F3) education of the highest quality within a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
A British-style Early Years education
A play-based curriculum, the EYFS encourages children to expand their creativity, and introduces them to learning through themes in a secure and nurturing environment. The programme will allow your child to explore and discover at their own pace.
The EYFS includes seven areas of learning.
Three Prime Learning Areas
- Communication and Language – developed through both English and Vietnamese
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development – growing the child’s ability to work with others, share, collaborate and increase emotional intelligence
- Physical Development – enhancing the capacity for physical exercise, developing both fine and gross motor skills
Four Cores Areas
- Understanding the world
- Expressive Arts and Design
We will help your child grow personally, socially and emotionally, to encourage a healthy sense of independence, confidence, and talents for problem solving.
A unique bilingual phonics programme
Our youngest students work towards Early Learning Goals in the seven areas of learning in both Vietnamese and English. Their bilingualism is carefully nurtured through our pioneering phonics programme, that teaches Vietnamese and English phonics using one single approach. Unique to BVIS, this programme teaches reading in both languages until our students are able to seamlessly switch between the two.
Our school is purpose-built to inspire learning, with dedicated facilities that create a stimulating and engaging environment that will maximise your child's personal and academic growth.
- A soft play room
- An outdoor area specially designed for Early Years including sand play, water play and other interactive learning activities
- A large bilingual library
Our outstanding teachers
Great teachers spark creativity and a love of learning in their students. All our educators are fully qualified with years of experience nurturing young ones. Our Early Years teams build wonderful relationships with our parents, sharing their knowledge and expertise through regular parent workshops, meetings, reports, and online learning portfolios.
Personalised learning approach
Personalised learning is at the heart of BVIS. We'll match your child's needs and learning preferences by adapting how we teach, and focusing on their individual strengths and areas for growth. Our teachers plan personalised, engaging and inspiring learning experiences to allow your child to develop their interests and meet milestones for their age group.
A supportive and close partnership with parents
We recognise that parents are the most important people in a child’s life, and great advocates on the learning journey. We understand the importance of healthy communication, and nurture close relationships with parents to enhance our students' learning experience. There are a number of ways we maintain this, through individual learning portfolios, weekly publications and parent meetings.

A typical day in the Early Years at BVIS Hanoi
First things first
When our youngest students arrive at school at 8:30 am, they enjoy a quick warmup activity to get ready for the day ahead, like building Hanoi's next skyscraper with our range of construction play equipment, or becoming anyone they want to be in our well-stocked role-play area.
Music in the morning
Time to listen to melodies of traditional songs and express themselves with a range of instruments to develop their communication, language, and physical skills through continual play provision.
At lunchtime, fresh, nutritious and delicious Asian and western meals are prepared on site for students to enjoy with their friends.
Continuing the learning journey
And afternoon of inside and outside play, with teacher lead and student-Initiated activities to develop their own interests and passions. Before home time, our students settle down for a thought-provoking story.
Another busy day of learning fun and discovery, our little learners return home at 3:05 p.m.
