The assessment and interview processes at BVIS are devised so that candidates for Scholarships are able to show the qualities that are listed in this profile. All candidates will be interviewed and be required to make a presentation to members of the Scholarship Committee. Candidates may also sit for academic testing requirements for the candidate’s chosen International A Level subject areas (if necessary). We are looking for genuine intellectual flair and academic strength, together with sensitivity towards other people.
An academic scholar will be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the school and to perform at an academic level that is commensurate with ability. International A Levels options should reflect high academic aspirations.
The number of academic scholarships available each year will depend on the number of applicants and the quality of academic scholarship displayed from those who present themselves during the assessment process. Academic awards offered are subject to the recipient satisfying the School’s 16+ rigorous academic entry requirements.
Candidates for admission to Year 12 in late August 2017 are requested to register and submit completed application forms in accordance with the dates cited above and be willing to attend assessment on the specified date.
If appropriate within their previous school, candidates who have taken IGCSE examinations and achieve only A* and A grades (from results issued in August of the year of application) may be eligible for a Scholarship awarded for excellence in international examinations, depending on the number and quality of applicants for these awards.
