IB Visual Arts Reflection

IB Visual Arts Reflection by Maggie Castro - Year 13 Student

Taking Visual Arts as an IB subject was definitely a challenge, especially throughout the Covid-19 lockdown. Some of us dealt with lack of motivation, artist block and struggled with obtaining the right art materials to finish up our coursework.

Staying at home gave us more free time that we could use for the planning of our final exhibition and further develop our artistic skills. Another challenge that we encountered on this journey was the exhibition itself. Firstly, we thought it would happen as normal, but with time realised that this expectation was not likely to come true. Sadly, our class did not have a proper exhibition, but we put a lot of effort into finding a way to arrange it online.

Nonetheless, all of us enjoyed the course despite spending about half of it online. We have expanded on our skills and the challenge of being online has encouraged us to come up with creative ideas to solve our problems.

If the school reopens during Term three, we would love to showcase some of our pieces and show them to our peers in school. As we cannot do this right now, here are some of the art pieces that we have created throughout these two years. There is also a screen shot of how the online exhibitions look like.
