Our Community

BIS Hanoi is well known for its inclusive and caring community, and we’re excited to warmly welcome you as valued members of our school.

At BIS Hanoi, we believe that your family is part of our family. Our supportive community of students, parents and teachers will help you make the most of your life in Hanoi. We are proud to have created an inclusive environment and we regularly come together to care for, inspire, and learn from each other.

Our diverse community

We are proud of the diversity of our school community and currently have students of more than 33 nationalities. Throughout the year, we take opportunities to celebrate the different cultures and ethnicities represented in our school.

We are also a member of Nord Anglia Education’s global family of schools with more than 67,000 students in 29 countries. Your child will make strong connections with their fellow students worldwide through Nord Anglia’s one-of-a-kind events and experiences.

Friends of BIS

We understand that your child’s school will be an important part of your family’s life in Hanoi. Our community will help you and your child quickly settle into school life, build friendships and make the most of all the new opportunities available.

Our school is at the heart of our local community and we are open to the whole family. We encourage parents to play an active role in school life and engage with you regularly through our parent group, Friends of BIS. Fun and friendly activities organised by the group include parent lunches, classes on cooking, languages, Yoga and Zumba, community activities such as the Upcycling Project and supporting school events such as the Year 6 Disco, pot luck lunch, and excursions. We also consult with you through our annual parent satisfaction survey.

Supporting the community

We are committed to undertaking charity and service work on a local and global scale as active and conscious world citizens. Our students participate in a well-developed programme which supports their growth as humble, empathetic and grounded young people.

Our parents also undertake projects locally. For example, our Secondary Korean parent group ran a Korean food stall during an International Festival with a local school for children with disabilities, raising VND23,357,000 for the school. Another initiative by Friends of BIS creatively recycled old uniform into water bottle covers, stuffed animals, cushions, pet beds, bookmarks and beanbags, raising a total of VND10,500,000 that will be reinvested into the next upcycling project and to support our charity partners.

Beautiful colours at BIS: On a fresh morning filled with sunshine, our international week kicked off with a parade of 600 students, teachers and parents in colourful costumes and waving flags representing the various nationalities at BIS. It was a great chance to celebrate us being a school with students from all over the world. And a chance for me to recognise and appreciate all of the nation’s our students come from. This is a wonderful annual event that we as a school create together. It highlights our common goals of promoting global cooperation and strengthening relationships between the diverse cultures at our school. I really appreciate all the BIS teachers for educating and leading our Global Citizens. "Gam-sa-ham-ni-da (Thank you in Korean)" Rosa Park, BIS Hanoi Parent
