How CAS and SA projects truly embody our Northbridge values of “Caring hearts, ambitious minds” “Caring hearts, ambitious minds” are the values etched into everything we do at Northbridge International School Cambodia, inspiring compassion and ethical responsibility through collaborative action. Nothing resonates more closely with those values than the incredible work our students lead as part of their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Service as Action (SA) projects.

“Caring hearts, ambitious minds” are the values etched into everything we do at Northbridge International School Cambodia, inspiring compassion and ethical responsibility through collaborative action. Nothing resonates more closely with those values than the incredible work our students lead as part of their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Service as Action (SA) projects.

CAS/ SA are core elements of the MYP and DP programs and aim to empower our students to be the positive change our complicated world needs. Unlike many expectations of the IB diploma, CAS and SA is extra curricular and unassessed and provides students with a launchpad to provide their service within the school, and outside in the community through planned action and reflection.

As we move into the fourth week of school, the wheels are turning faster and there are many exciting opportunities ahead. We are expanding the breadth of community work by partnering with new NGOs including Child Safe Friends and A Place to be Yourself.

Last week, World Vision visited NISC and we are proud to be the first school in Cambodia to be partnering with them. In October, DP2 students and NGOs will run a fair to celebrate their achievements and inspire the next generation of CAS students.

We will also be expanding Nord Anglia’s Share A Dream project which provides a platform for all the philanthropic work done by our students to be championed on an international stage. And along the way there will be a host of student lead fundraising events to support the NGOs’ community development work.

On a personal level, I am both proud and excited to coordinate the amazing work our students provide. Cambodia is a country which has given me so much happiness, however on a daily basis I am confronted by the challenges which exist in society.

At Northbridge, we are in a unique position where we have the means to support those less fortunate, and I believe it is our social and moral duty to give back to a country which has given us all so much.

Finally, let us not forget that we do not ask students to wander a lonely path, and that our successes and failures are shared. I call on all staff and parents to inspire our students in tackling the social challenges and continuing to develop Cambodia with "Caring hearts and ambitious minds."
