our early years curriculum framework

From the age of 3 to 6 (KG3, KG4, and Infant/Kindergarten), our students learn and play in NAIS Dublin’s dedicated Early Years Centre. ‘Tír na nÓg’ – or ‘Land of the Young’ as it’s known in Irish – is a purpose-built environment where our children take part in play-based activities through free-flowing areas.

By placing each child at the centre of their education, all learning experiences, lessons, and programmes at our early years school in Dublin meet individual needs and preferences. Our students learn through enquiry and continuous reflection, ensuring they develop the knowledge, skills, and conceptual understanding to make a difference in their own lives, their communities, and beyond.

Focusing on intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth, our teachers instil a sense of international-mindedness and encourage our young learners to take meaningful action.

THE IB PYP IN THE EARLY YEARS AT NAIS DUBLIN

Our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) offers an authentic and holistic early years education in Dublin. The early years is a time when play is the primary vehicle for enquiry and the foundation for future learning. Providing opportunities for students to enquire into important concepts and personal interests, play also involves choice, promotes action, and leads to exploration and discovery.

Our small class sizes facilitate personalised learning. Our early years teachers will encourage your child’s natural curiosity, foster a love of learning, and support them to flourish. Students play in stimulating classroom environments and communal free-flowing areas, both inside and out, which promote collaboration and interaction.

THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY YEARS EDUCATION

Our IB PYP develops the formative skills our students need to thrive at primary and beyond.

Through an enquiry-based approach to early years education, our children explore oral and written language, and develop their understanding of phonics. This ensures success in reading, writing, and spelling, providing a platform for further growth.

Our early years children also enjoy a myriad of opportunities to explore important mathematical concepts. We nurture their understanding of numbers, shapes, measurements, and spatial awareness, all of which are crucial as they progress through their studies.
