IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME (MYP)

OUR ib mIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME (MYP)

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) delivers the most comprehensive international secondary school education in Ireland, placing a strong focus on the development of values and attitudes, as well as knowledge and understanding.

Our concept-based IB MYP curriculum explores subject-specific content through six global contexts. The programme doesn’t just teach facts and knowledge; it develops a deeper understanding of how to learn – and how to apply learning.

THE IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME

GRADES 6-8

In Grades 6-8, we lay the foundations for future study, honing our secondary school students’ self-management, research, creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

We offer all eight IB MYP curriculum subject groups: Mathematics, Language and Literature, Science, Individuals and Societies, Design, Physical Health and Education, Arts, and Language Acquisition.

THE IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME

GRADES 9-10

In Grades 9 and 10 at our secondary school in Dublin, students continue with their subject groups and language choice. They’re also encouraged to specialise in one branch of the arts, choosing either Music, Performing Arts, or Visual Arts. We offer an additional Maths course, Extended Mathematics, for those who wish to delve deeper into the subject.

In Grade 10, all IB MYP curriculum students complete a Personal Project, which gives them the opportunity to design and create a product they are passionate about.

Service as action is also a foundational element of the IB MYP. Our aim is to develop caring members of the community who make a positive difference to the lives of others and their environment.

AN EVER-EVOLVING SECONDARY CURRICULUM

At NAIS Dublin, our international secondary school curriculum is continually evolving to suit the needs of our students and community. We also want to make sure we provide optimal learning opportunities.

We follow the IB MYP curriculum framework, as well as guidance provided by the International Baccalaureate Organization. We also regularly review and update our programmes in line with best practice and the latest research methodologies.
