We recently sat down with two families who transferred to NAIS Pudong to hear about their decision-making process, their adaptation journey, and the growth they’ve witnessed in their children. With results season just around the corner - at least for our Year 13s who will get their IB grades on 6th July - the Nord Anglia INSIGHTS team have created a powerful piece which I’d encourage every parent, regardless of the age their child, to read.

As part of the INSIGHTS series which we’ve featured several times across the academic year, this post feels specifically well timed in today’sever-changing technological world. There is an often recurring debate across the education field related to use of mobile phones both in school and at home, and as per the featured article, I think we can all agree that while the use of technology in school should be embraced when linked to functional learning, the broad use of mobile phones for social sites and general ‘doom scrolling’ when in school should not be permitted; it’s why our school has a policy which prohibits the use of mobile phones during the school day.

Nord Anglia International School Pudong (NAIS Pudong) prides itself on offering a comprehensive Physical Education program and a variety of competitive sports teams to cater to the diverse interests and abilities of its students. The Physical Education (PE) curriculum at our school is designed to promote physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for sports and healthy living. From Early Years through to Key Stage 5 (ages 2 to 18), students engage in a wide range of activities that cater to them specifically, regardless of age, gender or ability.

As Nord Anglia International School (NAIS) Shanghai, Pudong continues its commitment to enhancing student learning, the collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Nord Anglia Education (NAE) has grown to be a fantastic initiative to foster a dynamic and enriching educational environment for NAIS Pudong students. This partnership, bridging together the expertise of MIT’s faculty and students with Nord Anglia’s global school network, provides our pupils with a distinctive opportunity to develop essential collaborative skills, gain exposure to real-world problems, and participate in challenging competitions.

For those who haven’t already read the Nord Anglia INSIGHTS magazine, firstly, may I recommend this wonderful new project to you.  As a school, we’ve already published thought pieces on each of the core articles which I hope you’ve also read, and I think it’s important to see how these thought pieces are demonstrable here at NAIS Pudong.

In this era of globalisation and technological advancement, education must adapt to prepare students for a future filled with challenges and opportunities. Collaboration between renowned institutions is a powerful means of enriching the educational experience and equipping students with the tools they need to excel. One such collaboration that holds immense promise is the partnership between The Juilliard School, a world-famous institution for the performing arts, and the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) family of schools, which includes NAIS Pudong.

Within the British education system, high standards in reading and writing are often referred to as ‘the keys to the curriculum’. Prerequisites to success across subject areas, these core areas also serve as prerequisites for our school’s shared vision: Together, we develop creative, confident and considerate learners, prepared for their futures.
