Our youngest students start the day with warm welcomes and gentle preparation.
Start of Day
Child-Initiated Learning
We encourage children to engage in a range of open-inquiry activities every day through Child-Initiated Learning. These activities are curated to improve communication skills, physical development, creativity and confidence. Children might explore pouring and sieving in the water tray, messy play or imaginary play, they might read in a quiet space or create something for the fridge in arts and crafts.

Phonics
Part of early years learning is phonics. We strive to ensure children are able readers with an awareness of sounds and language from an early age. We start this journey through songs and rhymes, gradually building children’s phonological awareness by introducing oral blending and sound recognition through daily phonics activities.

Our youngest children recharge after a busy morning of learning with a nutritious lunch. It helps to develop good table manners and increases our independence as we tidy up after ourselves. Lunch is an opportunity to converse with peers and build positive relationships with others.

In this space, children have ample opportunity to explore the world around them as they develop their gross-motor, problem-solving and communication skills. The fun doesn’t stop there. Using large-scale construction materials, children are challenged to build, experiment, balance and take risks in their environment.
