Adapted English National Curriculum (ENC)
The English National Curriculum is well regarded because of the careful structure of this stage, which lays the foundations for future education. Children develop their potential in all areas, with a particular focus on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.
The English National Curriculum also places a clear emphasis on personal, social, health, and economic education. This framework is designed to provide the highest academic quality for your child’s education.
Our curriculum is designed to keep our young students interested and engaged in their learning and to ensure the continuation and progression from our Early Years programme.
Designed for Years 1 to 3, our curriculum includes subject areas such as English Language, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, World languages, Geography, History, Art and Craft, Music, Physical Education (including swimming), Health Education and Information Technology.
In Language and Literacy we aim to provide a rich and stimulating environment in which children find interest and pleasure in communicating in English. They are offered many experiences to develop their interest in reading with fluency, accuracy, understanding and enjoyment. The development of handwriting skills forms an important part of Language and Literacy.
In Mathematics and Science we aim to develop a knowledge and understanding of the role of these subjects in everyday life. Children are encouraged to relate their Mathematics and Science work to other areas of the curriculum and the skills and attitudes acquired are important components of cross-curricular topic work.
Upper Primary spans Years 4 to 6. Students continue learning in an engaging, hands-on environment, developing natural curiosity, increasing independence and encouraging lifelong learning.
During these Primary years our students explore subjects in more depth and make use of NAS Dubai's specialist facilities. Our outstanding teachers create a learning environment in which students are pushed to extend and challenge their learning, foster a desire to learn as well as increase respect for self, others and the environment. All children are encouraged to take risks and develop intellectual confidence in a safe and happy environment.
Students in these years learn the full range of subjects within the ENC curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, World Languages in addition to Arabic, Humanities, ICT, Music, Drama, Dance, Art, Physical Education, Social Studies and DICE subjects (Design, Innovation, Computing and Enterprise).
Our teachers personalise the teaching experience to your child's needs and abilities, achieving the best possible learning outcomes. As children progress through Upper Primary School, we ensure that the standards achieved by our Year 6 students prepare them for the best possible transition to their Secondary education.
