NAS Dubai Collaborates with the World Renowned Juilliard School

NAS Dubai are excited to announce that from September 2016 our students will benefit from an enhanced performing arts curriculum.

NAS Dubai will become one of the first schools in the world to benefit from an innovative new collaboration between Nord Anglia Education and The Juilliard School in New York. Our students will follow an embedded performing arts curriculum developed by specialists from Juilliard, along with continued support from, and engagement with, Juilliard alumni and affiliated artists.

The collaboration is designed to enhance our performing arts offering by incorporating a set of teaching resources into our existing curriculum across the school through its innovative structure, design and approach. The enhanced arts curriculum, which focuses first on music, was developed by curriculum and music experts at both Juilliard and Nord Anglia Education. NAS Dubai will also offer drama and dance curriculums over the coming years,

The music curriculum is designed for all students, not just those who are serious about learning an instrument or musical performance. It is based around a repertoire of 12 core works of Music covering a wide range of cultures, genres and historical periods, each of which has been carefully chosen by Juilliard to open the door to categories of music and fundamentals essential for all young people to know and experience.

Keyboard skills are a key component of this as it encourages immediate understanding of some abstract concepts, assists students with their notation skills and facilitates the exploration of harmony. NAS Dubai have recently purchased new keyboards for both our teaching classrooms to facilitate this.

Ultimately, the curriculum aims to nurture cultural literacy and support your child in developing key skills, such as discipline, creativity and confidence that will enable them to succeed anywhere in the world once they’ve left school. 

The collaboration with Juilliard will also provide NAS Dubai students with the opportunity to be involved in the annual Summer School programme. The first two-week programme will be held by College du Leman in Switzerland between 9 -22nd July 2016 and will include drama, dance, voice and instrumental tuition. Click here to learn more about the Juilliard Performing Arts Summer School and register your interest.
