Spanish Language Programme

With more than 400 million speakers around the world, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, right after Mandarin and before English. It is hardly surprising, therefore, that Spanish is a very popular language at NAS Dubai. In our school, we offer Spanish language from Early Years all the way to the completion of the IB Diploma, allowing our students to develop their linguistic abilities not only in all four main skills (reading, listening, writing and reading) but also in the understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.

Our second language acquisition programmes are targeted at students who wish to work toward mastery of Spanish as a foreign language. We offer the British Curriculum as well as the International Baccalaureate in Year 12 and Year 13, both at Ab Initio (beginners) and Language B levels (standard and higher), allowing out students to sit the internal IGCSE and IB exams to prepare them for the future in the best universities around the world. In addition to that, our students are also offered the possibility to prepare for the worldwide-recognized DELE and DELE Escolar diplomas in Spanish as a second language issued by the Instituto Cervantes accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Education.

Our second language acquisition offer at NAS Dubai is complemented by the advanced language programmes that allows Spanish-speaking families to ensure their children will be able to acquire the desired fluency in their native language. For that, at NAS Dubai we follow the native curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education in Spain for each year group in Primary and Secondary.

Language Institute

This 2019-2020 academic year NAS Dubai has launched the Language Institute in which students will have the great opportunity to attend extra language lessons offered by trusted external providers, as part of our cross-curricular activities repertoire. This year we are pleased to confirm that the offer includes both Spanish as a foreign language and advanced Spanish for native speakers. The lessons are targeted at both Primary and Secondary.

The Spanish department at NAS Dubai is dedicated to helping our students deepen their cultural knowledge in the subject. For that, we organise a series of cultural activities that take place throughout the whole academic year including celebrations inside and outside of the school, such as Día de la Hispanidad/de la Raza, local school visits and residential trips to Spain, allowing our students to immerse in the culture, history of traditions of one Spanish-speaking country.
