Introducing the learning curve

The learning curve a nord anglia education podcast

Every parent has questions. Some are practical. Others are deeply personal.

Is my child happy at school? Are they developing as they should? How much homework is too much? Is university still worth it? What role should AI play in learning?

The truth is, raising children has never come with a handbook. And while there’s no shortage of opinions online, finding thoughtful, balanced conversations can be much harder.

That’s why Nord Anglia Education in the Middle East has launched The Learning Curve – a new podcast exploring the realities of raising, supporting, and educating children today.

Hosted by former journalist Hfu Reisenhofer, the podcast brings together educators, researchers, parents, and other expert voices to explore the questions families are already asking. Each episode takes an honest, practical look at a topic that matters, helping parents better understand the challenges, opportunities, and decisions that shape childhood today.

Future episodes will tackle subjects including artificial intelligence in education, friendships at school, play-based learning, university choices, school admissions, exam preparation and much more.

Episode One: Is My Child Struggling – or Just Normal?

The first episode explores one of the questions almost every parent asks at some point.

Children don’t develop in straight lines. They have times when they thrive and times when they appear to lose confidence, fall behind, or simply seem different from their peers. So how do parents know what’s part of normal childhood – and what might require extra support?

Joining Hfu for the conversation is Aisling O’Connor, Head of Inclusion at Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, who shares experience supporting children with a wide range of learning and wellbeing needs. Together, they discuss how children develop at different rates, the signs parents should—and shouldn't—worry about, and how schools and families can work together to help every child flourish.
