Some of the important values we have at Northbridge International School Cambodia concern developing strong connections with the world and broadening the horizons of our students.
Emphasizing the importance of strong social connections with our friends is critical to making NISC a happy community, and our students have extra opportunities through the Nord Anglia Global Campus to make connections with students in other countries, which is exciting.
For example, in Grade 3 Yellow, Mr Conor and his students have been in correspondence with students at another Nord Anglia school in other countries. As Mr Conor explains:
"We are corresponding with a class of students from many countries including Ireland, Mexico, Pakistan, Spain, India, USA, Lebanon and the Netherlands. We are eagerly awaiting their first response. It was a great way for our students to learn about the process of letter writing and also a chance for them to share interesting information about their school and home countries."
The Pen Pals scheme connects students from over 80 different Nord Anglia schools, providing chances for 70,000 students to make connections across borders, which is fabulous! Pen Pals can connect through traditional letters, video calls, post cards and emails or any other creative means of communication.
You can see examples of the writing being shared and images taken around the school which we are sharing with our pen pals - the students are eager to share about their experiences at NISC and in Phnom Penh and learn about the experiences of others. What a fantastic way to cultivate globally minded citizens.
This is just a simple first step and we hope that more and more classes will participate in the Pen Pals scheme in the future.
When people think about leadership, what often comes to mind are the concepts of power, decision making, delegating and innovation. Seldom does one think about care, empathy, kindness, and generosity – however these traits that highlight the emotional skills for successful and effective leadership, including by students at Northbridge International School Cambodia, are just as important.
What are the Primary Arts all about? Is it just a load of fun and messing around? It is fun, which is why we love it but there is so much more to the programme than some people might think.
Take a visit to our early learning spaces at Northbridge International School Cambodia, both inside and out, and you will observe a wealth of play activities happening. Students are interacting in playing on their own (solo play), playing with the same thing or in the same space (mirrored play) or sharing together (collaborative play).
