After a few concerns about the weather earlier in the week, all was well. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Years 5 & 6 went to SAS Pudong for a Fun Athletics Day where different schools were able to come together to compete in different athletics events such as running, jumping & throwing in the nice sunny weather.
As it took a while to get there, the children were excited to get off the bus and start their races. The BISS Lions were prepared!
As children took part in events, those students who weren’t competing cheered and encouraged those who were racing on the track or competing in the field events.
A truly wonderful time was had by all and the sense of community and collective achievement was tangible - worth every kilometre travelled. On the way back the children were tired but ready to get back to school and keep learning!
Here are what some children from Year 5 & 6 thought:
Kara said that “It was fun even though I didn’t win all of them”. Mr Harriott said that “There were perfect weather conditions, not too hot and not too cold”. Nino & Oskar said that they enjoyed the running and that “it was very sweaty!” Miss Harding thought that “It was nice seeing lots of kids cross the line with smiles on their faces!” Cathy said that “It was fun yet tiring.” Nur-Sophia said that “It was fun & enjoyable.”
