Four teams of three presented talks on ‘winning’, ‘equality’, ‘trends’ and ‘judging’. Each team was comprised of a Chairperson, Main Speaker and a Vote of Thanks with an award given for each by the three judges who this year were Vice-Principal, Niki Meehan, Head of Secondary, Andrew Lancaster and Assistant Head, Nicholas Rickford.
The quality of the talks were as high as ever, with some quite exceptional deliveries from each team. Individual winners for Chairperson, Main Speaker and Vote of Thanks were Charlotte Dawson, Sofia Pricolo and Caleb Woodcock respectively.
The award for best overall speech went to ‘trends’ for its humorous analysis of fads, fashions and foibles in the teenage world, delivered with wit and incision. Mr Lancaster, speaking on behalf of the judges at the end of the presentations commented on the exceptional quality of the talks and just how engaged the audience were.
