During the week, a lot of our students were lucky enough to hear Andrea perform on her ‘Cello during their music lessons. As Year 4 are currently learning the ‘Cello, they also had a workshop with Andrea, where they were able to ask her questions about the ‘Cello and listen to all the different sounds that the instrument can make.
On Thursday morning, we also held a very successful parent coffee morning where we all learnt about The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Art Programme in more detail and the parents had the opportunity to listen to Andrea preform one of the pieces from the 12 core categories.
This visit was not only for the students and parents, but also for our Music teachers. We took part in a training session with the teaching artists from The Julliard School to explore further, the online resources that we are using as part of the new curriculum and to share ideas on how we are implementing the programme in our school.
Finally on Friday afternoon, five of our top string players in the school had the chance to perform in a Masterclass with Andrea. Alex Yun 6U, YiXiang Ma 7S, Angela Leung 10I, Ann Chen 10I and Victoria Sze 13I all performed different repertoire receiving constructive feedback from Andrea. The students were able to put into practice her tops tips for improving their performance even further. This was a fantastic experience for some of our musicians, and we hope to hold more of these events throughout the rest of the academic year.
All in all the week was extremely successful and we are very happy to build on our relationship with the teaching artists from The Juilliard School, so that we can ensure that we deliver the best performing arts programme possible and nurture ambitious, creative students.
