PTA Corner: IFE, Primary School Food Fair and the New Parent Programme

05 maart 2015

There are still tickets available for the International Food Evening (IFE), but get your reply slips in quickly, as they are going fast!

We are also pleased to announce that Turkey have now joined the countries who will be represented at the event, so any parents from Turkey who would like to help out by providing a dish, please contact

Primary School International Food Fair

As well as the IFE there is also the chance to cook your nation’s delicacies for the primary International Food Fair which is part of their International Week. This year the food fair will take place on the following dates:

  • Years 1, 3 and 5 Food Fair will take place on Tuesday 24 March
  • Early years Cubs Food Fair will take place on Wednesday 25 March
  • Years 2, 4 and 6 Food Fair will take place on Thursday 26 March.

At this time we would like to invite parents to contribute food dishes for the International Food Fair and we are also looking for parent volunteers who would like to take responsibility for coordinating a particular country. This helps enormously with the logistics and ensures a balance of food across the International Food Fair over the three days.

Please remember as you begin planning your cultural dishes for the event that due to allergies we cannot have any nut products in the school.

If you would like to volunteer to help in any way, please complete the slip at the bottom of the letter that went home last week (link below) and return it to the school reception by Wednesday 4 March. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Galasso at

New Parent Programme

New Parent Lunch – 11 March

On Wednesday 11 March we will have our New Parent Lunch at Favorita at 12:00pm.  Favorita is a small Italian restaurant trying to make a go of it at the Fashion Park Mall, near the school. The address of the mall is at the corner of Yunle Lu and Jinfeng Lu

New Parent Tour – 16 March

We have the details all confirmed for the next New Parent Tour, so mark your calendars for March 16, 8:45am – 3pm.  We will meet at the school and take the bus into town.  Tracy Lesh, of Shanghai and Beyond, will be guiding us on a walking tour of the French Concession.  Once there, we will go to the Shanghai Library, take a peek at some notable buildings and landmarks, have a wine tasting in Ferguson Lane, eat a traditional Chinese lunch, and learn a little bit about Chinese dining etiquette.

Tracy’s tours are always interesting, and she is a very engaging person! The cost is 350RMB per person, and that includes lunch!  The bus will add a little to the cost, but we can tell you that once we get an idea of numbers.  Please rsvp for all events to Staci at
