We learnt useful navigation skills from Mr Hill and Miss Mitchell taught us how to be environmentally friendly. In addition, Mr Mager and Mr Broadbent showed us how to properly pack our bags and pitch our tents.
For supper, we made ourselves ‘gourmet dinners’. Groups cooked meals such as pasta, rice and curry and Group One quickly realized that they could not live off pot noodles! After dinner, we participated in a fun game called Manhunt.
Most of us had a peaceful night, with others waking up early for a rugby tournament. In the morning we prepared breakfast and lent a hand to set up the 10th Anniversary Garden Party. Shortly after, we went on a small hike to see if we could cope with our heavy backpacks.
We also made our own hats for the Garden Party. Group One’s ‘Leaf No Trace’ hat won the prize for the age category!
Overall, the IA training was an exciting experience and definitely ‘in tents’!
