The children were making links to their recent Silk Road topic, looking at the trading that occurred along the routes and how fabrics and textile industries developed in Shanghai.
The children discovered coins and money that was used as long ago as the Pre-Qin dynasty and they learned methods that were used to create ancient coins. They also saw coins from Scythian and nomadic cultures that travelled on routes across the Silk Road.
We visited a second museum on the same day and discovered how ideas, products and machinery were exported and imported from Shanghai, making it a key place for the textile industries to develop. The children were a credit to the school and showed excellent application of their knowledge. Thank you to our parent helpers and teachers for a great day out!
