Last week, we saw the return of our Juilliard teaching artist – Andrea lee.

During this visit, she spent the majority of her time in the classroom working with our students. It was a delight to her our students welcoming her back and reminiscing about her previous visits.

During the 3 days, Andrea worked with Year 1, demonstrating different dynamics on her Cello as well as different articulation. She also spent time with Year 8 who were experimenting with recording Andrea’s playing using different microphones in different positions as part of their music technology lessons. In this period of exams, our Year 10 GCSE music students had the benefit of a short performing masterclass with Andrea in preparation for their mock performance exam.

A true highlight of this visit was a trip down to Early Years. Andrea spent one afternoon observing the fantastic work of the Nursery and Reception classes before performing to all the students. Our Early Years Cubs were transfixed by her beautiful playing, had lots of very thoughtful questions to ask an even joined in performing with Andrea in a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle.

It has been a pleasure building a relationship between Andrea and BISS Puxi over the last and we are really looking forward to this continuing next year.
