The Giving Tree

21 september 2016

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” ~ Charles Schulz

There are currently more than 150 million Chinese laborers working and living away from home as migrants in urban areas, these migrant workers do not receive any health, security or education benefits from the government.

  • Giving Tree Ceremony

Who are we?

The Giving Tree is a charity event managed by The Community Center Shanghai in co-operation with  Shanghai Charity Foundation. Their aim is to provide as many gift bags full of seasonal supplies and clothes as they can to the children of migrant families from underdeveloped, rural areas of China. BISS Puxi has successfully been one of the donor schools for the past several years and this year, our school's target is to provide 600 bags, which will go to the QingPu Xiulong Migrant School which islocated in Huaxin Town and to the Kindred Primary School in Suzhou.

“Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly Merry Christmas.” ~ Peg Bracken

The Giving Tree is an excellent opportunity for the students to give back to the community by just giving away a small donation from our  privileged lives. If you have any queries, please contact Ms. Coong at"> or visit her room (332 in secondary).

On behalf of the Giving Tree Committee, we would like to thank you for your upcoming donations for the migrant school children and we hope that your involvement  will continue in the future.
