This year, we are pleased to announce that some students in Years 7-10 will now have the opportunity to take the HSK 1-5 tests as part of their course in May 2019. The school will, therefore, cover the costs of the HSK test for these students. Please ask your child to check with their teacher if their HSK costs are covered by the school.
For other students and parents, the December HSK test will be self-funded and held on Sunday 2 December 2018.
REGISTRATION FOR THE HSK EXAMINATION
Participants must provide the following items:
- A copy of the participant's passport
- One passport size photo
- Registration form (see the attachment)
- Test fees
If you are interested in taking the HSK examination, please complete the registration form attached. Please return all required documentation and cash payment (exact amount) in a sealed envelope clearly marked ‘HSK Test’ and your own or your child’s name. This should be submitted to the Finance Office in the Primary School.
Full documentation and payment for HSK test must be received by 22 October 2018.

INFORMATION ON THE HSK &YCT EXAMINATION
We offer HSK examinations twice a year in December and in May. YCT is offered in May only.
HSK is normally taken by adults and secondary students, though some upper KS2 students may wish to take it too. The character requirements for the different levels are shown in the chart below and sample papers and more information can be found in the Chinese Tests section on http://english.hanban.org.

The YCT is designed to encourage non-native Chinese-speaking young students to learn Chinese, and develop and improve their proficiency with Chinese. It assesses their ability to use Chinese in daily life as well as in academic study.

This year some of our primary students will also be offered the opportunity to take the YCT examination. Your child’s teacher will inform you early next year, if this is the case.
Please return this completed the form with the required documentation and your cash payment in a sealed envelope clearly marked ‘HSK Test’ and your or your child’s name to the Finance Office in the Primary School.
