A plea for spare clothes: Our stock of spare clothes is running very low indeed. In fact our underwear and trousers boxes are now completely empty! Please could parents check in case your child has borrowed some spare clothes and they are still at home. Thank you.

MESSAGES

  • It is very helpful if you can name your child’s clothes, especially coats, sweaters, cardigans, hats, scarves and gloves.
  • Book Fair:  This year the Book Fair, where you can buy books, will take place in school from Thursday 19-Saturday 21 November.
  • Uniform sale:  We will be having a Used Uniform Stall as part of the upcoming PTA Christmas Fair being held in school on Saturday 28 November.  Please bring any clean, good quality, old uniforms to the Primary Reception over the next few weeks.  Y12 will be running the stall with the support of parents and proceeds will go towards their fundraising.

OUR LEARNING THEME:  Wonderful Weather

We will be continuing to focus on the weather next week. During this short week we will focus on  rainy and windy weather. We will continue with some of the activities from the previous week, including making autumnal collages, as well as suncatchers to decorate the windows, and perhaps the outdoor area too. We will use our wind socks, and also ribbons to dance to music, and watch how our ribbons move with the wind. What else can we see moving in the wind?  We will be playing a Rainbow Hoop game, both indoors and outside, to reinforce some of the weather related vocabulary we have been learning.

Key vocabulary:   weather, cloudy, windy, sunny, sun and clouds, snowy, rainbow

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

This week we will play with the balls, use the parachute, and play various circle games.  We will practise kicking a ball, and also (much trickier) catching a ball. We will observe how well children can climb and descend the steps, how well they negotiate space when they are running around, can they avoid obstacles and adjust speed and directions when running, jumping, pedalling, or driving a car around the playground ?

Key vocabulary:  fast, slow, stop, run, jump, walk, stand, balance, catch, throw, kick

MANDARIN

We are going to review the weather  and focus on  windy and cloudy weather. We will let the children experience different weather  during the week and  encourage the children to talk about it.

Key words :weather(tian qi-天气),windy(gua feng –刮风),rainy(xia yu-下雨)

Songs:xiao yu sha sha(小雨沙沙)
