In Literacy this week, the children will be writing up-levelling and presenting their final dinosaur reports. This will involve the children working in pairs and independently to highlight what they have done wella nd think of ways they can improve their work further, using a success criteria. We look forward to having these wonderful pieces of non-fiction on display during the Dinosaur showcase later in the term.

This week we will be focusing on division using the multiplication tables that the children know. This will include using repeated addition and the short division method for dividing 2 digit numbers by a single digit (21 ÷ 3 = 7). The children will also consolidate their understanding of remainders. The focus for mental maths will be the quick recall of division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

This week, the children are luck enough to be having Chinese New Year workshops run by our very talented Learning Assistants. These will include Chinese cookery, traditional Chinese games, listening to traditional stories and creating pieces of art for the Year of the Monkey.

As part of our Literacy improvements in writing,  the children will be continuing to consider what they have done well and how they could further improve their skills. This is part of our work on helping the children to set their own targets and recognize that mistakes are marvelous and help us to improve.

Literacy – non-chronological, title, heading, sub-title, sub-heading, paragraph, key word, glossary, contents page, index, diagram, photograph, label, caption

Koken, bakken, braden...
