Week Beginning 16 November 2015

Uniform - Now that it is colder in the mornings please remember that children should not be wearing leggings, boots or hoodies. They should be wearing school jumpers/cardigans/fleeces and NOT non-uniform versions. Information is available on the Primary Parent Handbook on the website.

  • ECA/BISCAP - Please inform the class teacher via a note in your child’s Communication Book if your child’s arrangements change for BISCAP, ECA or end of the day pick up. As changes involve a disruption to normal routines this helps us support you in getting your child home safely.
  • Security - Our new security system is still at the trial stage.  Adults only should use the glass gates to enter and exit the school; children should use the metal gates to the side.  If you are concerned that your child is young and you want to be with them then please accompany them through the metal gates. Thank you for your support.
  • Uniform sale:  We will be having a Used Uniform Stall as part of the upcoming PTA Christmas Fair being held in school on Saturday 28 November.  Please bring any clean, good quality, old uniforms to the Primary Reception over the next few weeks.  Y12 will be running the stall with the support of parents and proceeds will go towards their fundraising.
  • Parent Helpers:  We are always grateful for parents who are willing to come in to help read with children, help in the Dinner Hall, make resources etc.  Please let your class teacher know if you are available.
  • Book Fair:  This year the Book Fair, where you can buy books, will take place in school from Thursday 19-Saturday 21 November.  More information to follow.
  • KS2 book eXchange - Our book eXchange is now open every Tuesday and Thursday lunch time for children to come and borrow, share, exchange, read and talk about books. Please encourage your child to join the book exchange by donating 2 good quality books which they have already enjoyed OR by reminding your children who are already members to come and choose a book!

The children will explore the features of an information text and then plan and create their own information text about a car. The spelling focus of the week is to investigate and identify basic rules for changing the spelling of nouns when ‘s’ is added (e.g. bush to bushes.) Our exception words are: knowledge, learn, length and library.

We will be solving problems involving increasingly harder fractions to calculate quantities, and fractions to divide quantities, including non-unit fractions where the answer is a whole number.

We will complete our car designs and discuss building materials.  Children will also analyse how car designs have developed in the last century.

Literacy – information, subtitle, fact, opinion, deduction, inference
