General Secretary: Alena Heise

A very warm welcome to all guests, delegates and chairs to FOBISIAMUN 2017. My name is Alena Heise and I will be the General Secretary of the conference. To briefly introduce myself: I come from Germany and am in year 12, already attending BISS since August, 2010. When looking back at my MUN career, the past three years have been tremendously successful as I have had many opportunities as a delegate, Judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), deputy chair and president and now I have the fantastic honour to serve as the second General Secretary of BISS at this year’s conference.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the conference in a months’ time and hope that everyone will experience some moments of insight, understanding and success. While attending the three-day conference, keep the conference theme at the back of your head as ‘freedom’ might sound simple, but to many Freedom is untouchable. Base resolutions, when fitted, on the concept of freedom and on how you are able to give others the possibility of freedom. Enjoy the days of debate and make the most of this opportunity.

See you all soon!

Alena Heise, General Secretary

Conference Manager: Kelly Kim

Hello, participants of the FOBISIAMUN 2017! I am Kelly Ragyeom Kim, a Year 13 student at the British International School Shanghai Puxi, and it is my honor to serve as your Conference Manager this year. As the Secretary General of the First Annual BISSMUN 2016, I am both delighted and slightly nostalgic as the MUN team this year busily assembles the MUN conference for 2017. However, having met the dedicated and passionate members of the FOBISIAMUN Team, I do not doubt that the conference of 2017 will coordinate another stimulating and inspiring conference.

A Model United Nations conference is a valuable platform where students can share, debate and construct ideas with a shared goal of making the world a better place. Through MUN conferences I have learnt to communicate with other students, understand situations from a variety of perspectives and articulately forward an argument.

At the same time, MUN need not be limited to an exclusively intellectual experience. I urge students to use the conference as an opportunity to forge lasting friendships with other perspicacious students and have a fun experience!

Kelly Ragyeom Kim, Conference Manager

President of the General Assembly: Brian Kim

Hello Delegates, Chairs, and Directors of the FOBISAMUN teams. My name is  Brian (Jeong Gyeom) Kim and I am currently in Year 11 in the British International School Shanghai. I love the MUN life and FOBISAMUN is my 4th year of MUN and will be my 5th opportunity to be a Chair. I will be the President of the General Assembly, and I am highly honoured to be selected for this position. As this MUN is being hosted in our school, I feel an especially strong urge to make this the best conference you will ever have been to and will ever go to. For that to happen, I need you to help me, support me and work with me (and my Deputy Presidents). Let's make this the best MUN experience for me, for you, and for all of us.

Brian Kim, President of the General Assembly

Head of Administrative Staff: Phoebe Li

Hello everyone.

My name is Phoebe Li and I am 15 years old, and will be honoured to be the Head of Admin for this year's FOBISAMUN.

Having an avid interest in politics and events happening in the world, MUN was a way for me to have hands on experience in seeing how the world works with dealing with issues. With my non-stop adventurous mind and the yearn to experiment with as many things as possible, I have had various roles around the field of MUN; such as being a delegate, a press-team member, and now the Head of Admin.

Behind every event, every scene, every moment, there are always back-hand and hidden workers who work relentlessly in order to help execute the overall event to the best it can be, which is what the Admin team is. They are the secret hidden powers of the MUN conference that make the conference as enjoyable and memorable for everyone in the conference, which gives me the greatest honour in being able to lead such a unique team.

I hope that with my innovative abilities, I will help to make this a wonderful and vastly enjoyable experience for everyone at the conference.

Phoebe Li, Head of Administrative Staff
