What a fun and busy week we have ahead of us! Reception will be enjoying Science Week in and outside their classrooms and we are very excited about it! We will be questioning, thinking, measuring, experimenting and finding out lots of new things! Here are some of our investigations:

Painting with syringes…pushing and pulling are forces all around us. How far can we make the paint go?

Light it up!...we’re so lucky to have electricity at our finger tips; will we be able to make our own circuits?

Pull it apart!...plants look beautiful on the outside, but we will be using our skills of dexterity to look inside.

Catch it, quick!...How fast do you think our brains and bodies work? We will be testing our reaction times with a friend.

Blow it up!...we will be making a human body! Our lungs are very important indeed! We’ll be learning how they work with air moving in and out.

We are still busy preparing for life after Reception by thinking about what lies ahead in Year 1.

We're enjoying learning about the Hermit Crabs who move out of their shells when they are too big for them, just like us!

We will be visiting their shared role play areas and having a look around classrooms…I wonder what we will find?

animals, sea, ocean, aquarium, changes

MATHS –Science activities

Our fantastic science activities will provide lots of opportunities to use maths in practical ways; measuring time for our reactions, measuring paint mrks to see which is the longest and shortest, and looking at capacity with blowing up balloons to measure our lungs capacity.

measure, how much, how far, minute, second.

MANDARIN THEME: We will carry on our topic about summer for next week in mandarin. We will talk about what we can do and what we can eat in summer time.

De piraten van Reception gaan deze week  verder op verkenning in de onderwaterwereld. We zetten onze snorkelmaskers op en verkennen wonderlijke  zeedieren.  Al onze kennis bundelen we in onze zeedierenencyclopedie.
