MESSAGES

  • School Uniform - Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular, please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please remember to bring a thick coat into school for playtimes
  • Phonics:  This week we will start Read Write Inc Phonics. The children will be in groups and will have a session every day. Further information will follow.

LITERACY

In Literacy we will be focusing on the features of a recipe and how to write clear instructions. Students will have the opportunity to write their own recipe for a pizza they will be making in our STEAM Theme lessons.

MATHS

In Maths this week we will be looking at fractions and reviewing 2D shapes. We will explore the concept of whole, half and quarter.

As our theme study of ‘Around the World in 80 days’ continues, this week we will be looking at Italy. We will be discussing key facts, its geography, and will use our knowledge of recipes to make pizzas.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

We are continuing with coding for the coming weeks. The children will now look at inputting information with an increased independence. Within the unit the children will be looking at developing the movement of objects operated from the instructions that they decide.

PSHCE

Our new PSHCE / Well-being program has begun.  This week we are continuing with our first core value collaboration.  The focus will be on how to form good friendships and how to be a good friend. Students will engage in practical activities that will support them in developing these fundamental skills.

DUTCH

De kinderen van year 1 hebben deze week hun luisteroren aan!  Samen met Kapitein Winokio creëren we ons eigen hoorspel.   We zetten alle geluiden op papier en maken er een muzikaal klankgedicht mee!

In de week van 29 januari tot en met 3 februari besteden we extra aandacht aan voorlezen naar aanleiding van de Nationale Voorleesdagen?  Komt u graag ook een keertje voorlezen in de klas?  Graag een mailtje naar c-borger@bisspuxi.com.  Breng uw favoriete (prenten)boek mee of kies een boek uit onze geweldig schoolbieb!
