Week Beginning 9 October 2017


  • We kindly ask that parents stay in the playground in the mornings and encourage their child to come up to their classroom with their teacher and class.
  • Registration for the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) is now open to adults and students. The HSK test will be held on Saturday 11 November 2017. Please see the attached registration form for information. Full documentation and payment for HSK test must be received by Monday 9 October 2017.


This week we will be loking at the story Handa Surpise. Childen will be building sentences about the story and having discssions about their favourite fruits. We wll continue to practise our handwriting and leave spaces between words.

Subtraction is the focus for mathematics this week. Last week we looked at differing methods to add numbers; using objects, number lines and number squares. This week we will use the same methods but taking away. Most children will be able to take away a number of objects, with the focus on using a number line to help them take away larger numbers.

Our wonderful construction of body parts last week led to some great questions from the classes. To support our literacy work we will be investigating how body parts look in ‘real life’,  what that specific organ does and how it works and helps the body.

The children will continue to master the skill of logging themselves on and off of a computer or laptop. Now that the children are getting more comfortable with the using of basic hardware we can begin to look at digital art based software. The children will using Microsoft Paint to help them draw and label parts of the human body.

This week we will continue to learn about keeping our bodies healthy. We will focus on keeping safe when playing with our friends but our particular focus will be on basic hygiene such as washing hands after visiting the toilet and the spreading of germs.

Deze week gaat de Nederlandse Kinderboekenweek officieel van start in Nederland én Shanghai.   We maken kennis met Joke in het boek  `Joke wil spoken`.  Joke is een rondzwevende geest.  Maar voor rondgevende geesten valt er weinig te beleven.  Dus Joke wil gaan spoken!  Maar hoe  doe je dat  `spoken`?
