This week the children will be continuing their investigations of non-fiction. They will start the week by learning a paragraph of writing about the T. Rex. This will involve them creating a text map to help them learn the structure. A text map uses pictures and actions. By the end of the week, the children will have learnt a full text on the T. Rex and then use their knowledge to compose a short piece of writing.

In Maths, the children will be learning about two different ways of representing and solving mathematical problems. They will first learn about how to use diagrams to represent a problem and help them to solve it. They will also learn about the use of tables in problem solving. By the end of the week the children will have explored a number of shared and independent problems, where they will have the opportunity to apply their learning. During Maths the children will be learning coaching techniques to support each other.

In Themed Learning, the children will be investigating what the world looked like when the dinosaurs were alive. They will then be comparing this to the world today. The children will create maps and use atlases. By the end of the week the children will have explored questions such as: How did the dinosaurs cross from N. America to Europe? How do we know the Earth used to be a single continent?
