Week Beginning 30 October 2017


  • Parent teacher meetings will take place on October 31  and November 2.  If you have asked for an appointment you should have received an appointment time. Please ask your teacher if you are unsure. We look forward to sharing your child’s progress.  Please remmebr ECAs will be cancelled on these days.
  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
  • Each year, Giving Tree aims to provide children in need with a gift bag full of winter clothes and school supplies.  Please support this worthwhile cause.


This week, the children will begin to look at explanation texts. We will look at the purpose of an explanation text and what it aims to do. Following that, we will touch upon some grammar by thinking about which connectives are used in this type of writing, and why. The children will then be shown a video about a ‘Cracking Contrpation’ and will begin to think about how to write an explanation about how it works.

This week in maths we will continue to focus on fractions, following on from the previous weeks’ introduction.  The children will be looking at fractions of amounts, including measures, as well as comparing fractions.

This week in theme we will be continuing to look at the Roman army. We will then look in more detail at the army, and then spend some time designing and making our own Roman shields. You may even see us marching around the school!

The children will be continuing on from their Da Vinci Centre work by using the ‘Green Screen’ app to create a video outlining their projects, and the different successes of them.

Juf Irene is deze week op bezoek geweest. Ze heeft veel gesproken met Juf Chris en Juf Cindy voor de overdracht. Ze heeft ook de meeste leerlingen even gezien en ze heeft er zin in! Juf Irene begint na de Kerstvakantie!

Verder werken we gewoon verder met het thema: “Gruwelijk Eng!”

De  gruwelijk vieze recepten zijn klaar.  Deze hangen vanaf volgende week op de display of in de klas. Durven jullie het ook echt te koken? De leerlingen schrijven nu een echt griezelverhaal.

Ik heb gezien dat de meeste leerlingen de woorden met Bloon aan het oefenen zijn, heel erg goed!

Nieuwsbegrip huiswerk moet nu ook weer gemaakt worden.

This week’s homework will be creating your own French colourful monster.  Can you label the colours and the parts of the face? You can revisit the story for inspiration!
