A message from the Principal

A Premium Education

Our school philosophy is to ‘Be Ambitious’. We want the very best for our children and we know that our parents do too. For us, this means all of our students are able to achieve beyond what they thought possible, whatever their starting point on their learning journey might be. We plan all aspects of our curriculum through our ‘Five Pillars’, which help to shape students’ learning and progression. Our Five Pillars are: Academic Excellence, Sport, STEAM, Performing Arts and Internationalism.

Academic Excellence

Academic Excellence

Our pupils follow a blended programme, broadly following the world-renowned British National Curriculum, from our youngest students (aged 2) in the Early Years Centre, right up to our IB Academy students (who graduate from BISS at the age of 18). The curriculum provides challenges for students that lead to very strong academic qualifications.

Sports

Sport

Our Sports Programme reflects our ambitions – with opportunities for children to participate, to compete and to specialise. We’re fortunate to have Marlon Devonish, our gold-winning Olympic Athlete, as an inspirational member of the school community. He works alongside our children to develop not just their physical skills, but also their mindsets – to strengthen their resilience and to recognise that through sport, emotional well-being can be achieved in a way that benefits children in both their academic and social development.

STEAM learning in Davinci Center BISS

STEAM

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics – our aim is to develop teaching and learning in these subjects by connecting MIT innovation and culture to the school. Our students work collaboratively across the curriculum through project-based-learning.

Performing Arts

The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme allows us to enrich our students’ learning experiences in Music, Drama and Dance. We receive regular visits from Juilliard Alumni from each of these disciplines who lead students and parents in practical workshops; these artists also support professional development to develop the Juilliard philosophy in our pedagogy.

A Global Community

Internationalism

Our final ‘pillar’ is Internationalism and this is realised through the role that we play as responsible citizens and leaders of the future. We encourage students to think about global issues through focusing on UNICEF’s Global Goals. We encourage our students to be internationally-minded, to understand the different cultures and societies in which we live, and to appreciate and support different communities.
