Our Charity Work

At the British International School Shanghai Puxi, we think beyond traditional education.  Through our charity work, students develop core skills including empathy, relationship building, organisational skills, communications and leadership. It allows them to see the world from a new perspective and understand the value of doing good in the community. The school works with selected charities at an international, national and local level.

17 Global Sustainability Goals

In September 2015, world leaders came together to commit to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development designed to achieve three goals within 15 years including; ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and injustice and fixing climate change.

This gives BISS Puxi students the opportunity to engage in an ambitious global project that can make a difference to how the world will evolve over the next 15 years.

Water Aid

Water Aid is an international charity which works with local partners in different countries to help communities access safe water and sanitation. Students can understand how effective water management continues to be a critical issue globally and contribute to its development.

River of Hearts

River of Hearts is a Community Center Shanghai outreach programme and provides a vehicle for the whole community to give back to underprivileged people in Shanghai and throughout China.

Huaxin Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Huaxin Town

This centre is a local charity based very close to the school which helps children with neurological illnesses and allows for parents to network and meet. The centre provides an opportunity for students to interact and makes a big difference to people within the local area.

The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is the charity which provides needy children with a bag full of warmth for Christmas. It provides an opportunity for the whole BISS Puxi community to come together at Christmas and to give back to those in need.

Indochina Starfish Foundation

The Indochina Starfish Foundation is an international charity which helps some of the poorest, most disadvantaged children in Cambodia. Working with the Indochina Starfish Foundation gives students the opportunity to support underprivileged children through education.
